Matthew Bassett
Senior Counsel
Matthew Bassett is a seasoned government affairs professional with more than 15 years of public policy experience on nearly every level of state and federal government. He brings to ReviveHealth extensive health care and insurance experience with both government and private payors and has closely followed PPACA legislation and the resulting implementation of states’ health care exchanges.
Prior to ReviveHealth, Matt served as Vice President of Public Policy at DaVita, one of the largest worldwide providers of integrated dialysis services for patients suffering from chronic kidney failure. There he developed a state government affairs team that serves as an industry leader. He has successfully directed many large-scale campaigns focusing on protecting the company’s business model, increasing reimbursement, and expanding business opportunities in multiple state capitals. Matt represented the dialysis industry in legislative hearings and to key policy group associations representing governors, legislators, and regulators.
Before joining DaVita in 2006, Matt served as Chief of Staff for Kentucky’s Cabinet of Health and Family Services and senior advisor to Governor Ernie Fletcher for health and insurance policy. Prior to the Governor’s election, Matt served as Fletcher’s Deputy Chief of Staff in the U.S. Congress and handled all health-related issues that came before the House Energy and Commerce Committee.
Matt began his career completing his Master’s fellowship with the Baylor Health Care System in Dallas. He then worked on the Senate Health Committee in Texas and served as a Senior Legislative Assistant in the Congressional Office of Pete Session in Washington.
He is a graduate of Baylor University and earned a Master’s in Health Care Administration from Trinity University. He now lives in Brentwood, Tennessee with his wife, Stacy, and their son, Matthew Jr.
